SPRING 1999 UPDATE

Leo Reichmanis aboard 'Baltic Heritage' has all but completed his 'Round the World' cruise and will do so when he passes through the Windward Passage this spring. He is spending the winter in Venezuela. He wrote a note recently declaring that after more than 30,000 miles he never ran out of fuel, water, cold beer, ice cubes, or touched bottom! You passed 101 boating. Now on to the serious stuff. I hope to receive additional information about his voyage and be able to share more with you.

In the meantime I received a delightful email from Pat and Jim Domville, on board their Whitby, Beau Jeu in the Far East. Their tale is exciting, inspiring and experienced first hand. I have asked permission to include it in the next newsletter and hope to share it with you. The newsletter should be out early April.

In the recent Whitby/Brewer Association Newsletter more information was included about enlarged rudder experiences, both 'how to' and 'problems' afterward. Also an article on 'mounting new deck hardware in a balsa cored area' was available.

IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE WHITBY BREWER ASSOCIATION, a non-profit association of current, past and some future owners, who share the common ground of their vessel and the experiences surrounding them. The person to contact is Mr. Bernie Boykin, 1919 Ruxton Rd., Baltimore MD, 21204-3510 Phone 410 828 5690 or Fill in a Form and I will fax you the application. It is only $10 U.S. a year to help defray the cost of communication. There are 3 or 4 gatherings this year as in most years. A little more fun for all.

There are a few Whitby 42s listed with me now. One from last year and a couple of March '99 listings. Both Brewers listed with me last fall are sold or under contract and more are needed. One 1979 and two 1982s are currently listed. They range from $86,900.U.S. to $129,900.U.S. Two are Cutter-Ketches with the Bowsprit. If there are any current owners looking For Assistance in Selling their Whitby or Brewer, Fill in a Form and tell me about your needs.

Have you installed any new equipment that may be of interest or value to other Whitby and Brewer owners? New Technology in the fields of energy and energy management, comfort tools and Toys for the Grown Up are coming on stream so fast, it is hard to keep up. Share if you will and I can spread the news through this Website and my Newsletter as well as the Association of Owners.

By the way, there is a 1999 Calendar available on the Listing Page Menu featuring Hull #315, Lion's Paw, sailed now by Jim & Irene, who are currently in the Bahamas. They purchased her last summer and after a major overhaul, update and refit they are now enjoying the winter. The picture on the Calendar is the Whitby on a full reach under DRS.

Also at the site http://www.yachtsls.com/w42196 there is another Calendar showing the Whitby on a screaming reach with White Sails only. Two great pictures.

If you have a friend looking for a Niagara 42 or and Alberg 37, I have listings for these two vessels as well. The Alberg is a lake sailed and equipped 1985 whose basics specs can be seen on the Listings Page directory and full inventories are available if you contact me.

Our next Newsletter should be out early April. It will be sent instantly by email on completion and the old fashioned way to those of you who have not yet shared your email address. Either by filling in a form or sending me an email , will improve the ease of communication. Thank You. Douglas

In my Hidden pages I have now posted the original brochures and specs of the Brewer 44 and Brewer 12.8 They are there for the enjoyment of all owners, past and present. Fill in a Form and I will direct you there.

The Whitby Sales Brochure and specifications as written in 1986 are now available on special WWW sites and may be obtained by e-mailing a request.

HAPPY SAILING.!!!!!!
