Short Update to enclosed Spring 2003 Newsletter:

First of all, if you have Web Access these shared info letters are at http://www.yachtsls.com and click on Newsletters. They are about Whitbys, Brewers and Albergs as well as Trawlers, their equipment, their problems and remedies and some adventures told by the owners that experienced them. While you are on the site, if you would like to receive notice of when new ones are posted, drop me an e-mail, Thanks.

Since the writing of the attached a number of events have taken place. The Whitby 55, 'Sunrise' has arrived in Annapolis. She is offered at US$395,000. and is ready for a new owner. The current owner is moving up as he reaches an age where he is ready for a new adventure after owning this vessel since new.

Two new listings for Whitbys in Baltimore, one in Marathon and one in Salem are keeping me on the run doing inventories and pictures as well as inspections. They will range in price from US$104,900. to US$187,000. and each one has it special characteristics and enhancements. I now have 5 vessels for pleasing new owners. If anyone is admiring your Whitby or Brewer, I would appreciate a mention.

Keep in mind that the fall rendezvous in Annapolis is not far off. If you are not a member of the Whitby/Brewer Owner’s Association contact Bernie Boykin as noted on page 4 of the enclosed newsletter. He can acquaint you to the event.

Recently a surveyor claimed that all vessels have a H.I.N. marked in the upper right hand corner of the transom. It was not until sometime in 1975 Whitby went to the international code with a hull ident number like ZWB420850676 that we started placing them in the new prescribed place. Prior to that the numbers were on an aluminium plate a mere couple of inches in surface size and that was usually placed under the sill for the forward companionway. The numbers were simply, for instance, 427440.

Later in the eighties the countries involved in the treaty started to include a letter so that our number would read likeZWB412321C585. I mention this due do a recent inquiry from Cliff Jackson. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Here is a picture of Bob Chamber’s idea of capturing even more storage space. Located on port side under the existing cabinetry. By dropping the cushion height for the back rests he has put a shelf in place of the large storage area behind the cushions. The space is mostly unused as it is a bit superfluous and is often ignored. Bob & Betsy have their Whitby set up in many ways for long distance travel and this is just one more of his great ideas.

If you have an outstanding idea you have employed like the one above, a picture or an email with attachment would help. The next one I want to show will be the placement of the sole cutout for accessing the starboard cockpit drain seacox.

You may notice the letterhead as I have broadened my focus as I have become more and more involved with Whitby/Brewer owners as they make a shift to Trawler interest. I will remain known for my ‘Yachts with Experience’ and continue to specialize in the Whitby and Brewer vessels. Currently I have just one trawler listed, and interestingly enough it is owned by an associate in Eastern Ontario in Canada who had a Whitby, switched to a trawler after heart repairs and now that good health has returned, is going back into sailing locally. Brad and Gail Guest from Kingston Ontario are anxious to get the breeze back into their summer life.

Remember, if you know anyone who owns a Whitby or Brewer and would like to be included in the sharing of this letter, please have him or her contact me. There is no charge of any kind.

If you are on the web, you can see what is currently for sale through my service by clicking on http://www.yachtsls.com
